Covid has wreaked havoc across the NFL, forcing on-the-fly adjustments for practically every team.

For the Washington Football Team, they had their game against the Eagles moved from Sunday to today, and they lost seven coaches due to Covid protocols.

In turn, that enabled the team and assistant running backs coach Jennifer King to make NFL history again.

King first made history this past January when she became the first Black female assistant position coach in NFL history.

Now, because running backs coach Randy Jordan is on the reserve/Covid-19 list, the former Dartmouth offensive assistant coach becomes the team’s running backs coach and the first Black female position coach in an NFL regular-season game.

She also becomes the second woman in NFL history to be a position coach during a regular-season game.

According to Yahoo Sports, the first was Callie Brownson.

The Browns’ chief of staff stepped in for Drew Petzing, the team’s tight ends coach, last November when he left the team to attend the birth of his child. She filled in two more times that season for different coaches, including wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea and Petzing again, both due to Covid-19 protocols.

Now King, the former football, basketball and softball player, as well as head coach of the 2018 USCAA Division II National Championship Johnson & Wales University Charlotte team, adds another first to her long and impressive resume.
