If you’re an NFL fan 35 and older, you’re familiar with quarterbacks like Warren Moon, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman and Jim McMahon and you might have had their posters on your bedroom wall. Now you have a chance to re-live your childhood football experience as they’re returning to the field.
The digital field, that is.
Today the Costacos Collection announced its second drop of digital imagery, this time an NFT collection of legendary NFL quarterbacks.
But it’s not old versions of those players. Instead, the collection is taking what once was and reimagining their personalities for this new collection.
“We have worked hard the past six months to find just the right time, and the right combination of athletes whose personalities resonate well beyond their sport and their careers, and we have struck that right balance with our second drop, featuring Troy, Jim, Dan and Warren,” said Justin Moorad, CEO of The Costacos Collection, in the release. “These four, all with their own personalities and career paths, represent an era of NFL coolness that was brought to light by John’s work, and will now be recreated in digital art well beyond the original posters. It is something we know their legions of fans will enjoy, and new fans will love getting to experience and own for the first time.”
The collection will appeal to all NFL fans, regardless of generation, something these legends truly appreciate.
“As an entrepreneur and a pop culture fan I have loved John’s vision and his disruptive enthusiasm,” said Moon. “He has found a way to reengage an audience well beyond his first go-round in the space, which was nostalgic to look back on. Now his creativity is almost limitless, and I am really proud to be involved of this unique launch.”
While players like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow are the stars of the present and future, they would not be here without the legendary quarterbacks featured in this exciting collection.
And even though their playing careers are done, Moon told us their connection to the game and fans remains strong.
“One way I have connected with fans is through video games like Madden,” said Moon. “I’m part of the Legends series which enables young kids and adults to learn who I was as a player. Another way is trading cards, especially as kids collect with their parents who may have known me as a player. Definitely through goggle, which is at everyone’s disposal on their smart phones.”
The new collection creates a new point of connection for both older and younger fans, a reimagined presence that Moon hopes fans will enjoy.
“I want them to appreciate the art and history of the piece that was created digitally which will allow them to own this piece forever.”
The collection, following on the heels of the Willie Mays NFL collection, is available now.
