This afternoon we learned that golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a one car accident earlier in the day in Rolling Hills Estates in California.
According to the LA County Sheriff’s Office:
“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods. Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.”
After being extricated from the wreckage, Woods was rushed to the hospital. According to his agent Mark Steinberg, he suffered “multiple” leg injuries.
“He is currently in surgery,” said Steinberg to Golf Digest, “and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
The 45-year old Woods was in California for shoot with Golf Digest/GOLFTV. This followed on the heels of him serving as the host for the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitation last weekend.
Tiger is waiting on the results of an MRI before he ramps up his training. His last competitive event was at the end of December in Orlando when he played alongside his son.
We will continue to keep you updated on this situation.
