On Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans hired Ran Carthon as their new General Manager.

Carthon arrives in Nashville after spending the last seven years with the San Francisco 49ers, five as the director of pro personnel and the last two as director of player personnel.

“We are excited to add Ran to our organization as our new general manager,” said Titans Controlling Owner Amy Adams Strunk in a statement. “He brings a variety of valuable experiences to our team – as a former player and a successful personnel executive for multiple teams. I was impressed with his natural leadership qualities and his ability to connect with people. With talent evaluation being critical to this role, the roster they have built in San Francisco stands out. He played an important role there constructing one of our league’s best teams.”

Ran brings a lengthy resume of experience to the Titans.

While with the 49ers, Carthon evaluate top college prospects, assisted in building the pro free agency board and evaluations, and worked with the football administration staff.

Prior to joining San Francisco, he spent five seasons with the St. Louis/L.A. Rams as the director of pro personnel (2012-16) and four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons as a pro scout (2008-11).

Carthon played collegiately for the Florida Gators, where he won an SEC Championship in 2000. He made the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted rookie in 2004 and spent three seasons with the team.

And if his name sounds familiar, it should. He’s the son of former Giants running back and two-time Super Bowl champion, Maurice Carthon.

So now that the Titans have their new GM in place, he and head coach Mike Vrabel can focus on the scouting combine, NFL Draft and, potentially, a new stadium in Nashville.

Congrats to Ran Carthon!
