As of today, six of the seven have been filled, the only remaining team being the troubled Houston Texans. This means that Eric Bieniemy, the Chiefs&#8217; offensive coordinator, could be blanked again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This afternoon, ESPN&#8217;s Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles would be hiring Colts&#8217; offensive coordinator, Nick Sirianni, as their new head coach, replacing Doug Pederson, who was fired earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Eagles are hiring Colts&#39; OC Nick Sirianni as their head coach, sources tell ESPN. Sirianni spent three seasons as a Chiefs&#39; assistant coach, five seasons with the Chargers, and the past three with the Colts. Now the 39-year-old Sirianni becomes the lead man in Philadelphia.<\/p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1352330002772193280?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 21, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This hire had the Twittersphere up in arms because Bieniemy was passed up yet again for a head coaching position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s always good to be mentioned and having an opportunity to pursue your dreams,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/nfl\/kansas-city-chiefs\/article248670900.html\">said Bieniemy Thursday<\/a>. \u201cAnd obviously, yes, I want to be a head coach. But when it\u2019s all said and done with, my job is to make sure everything that we\u2019re doing right now is not to take away the goals that we\u2019re trying to accomplish. &#8230; We want to make sure that we\u2019re getting our guys ready to make sure they can take care of business on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy own personal business, when all that\u2019s time to take care of itself, that will take care of itself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is that time keeps passing and his personal business is being taken care of by the failure of team after team to give him a shot at a head coaching position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The excuses have seemed to follow him around, from not interviewing well to not being the one calling the plays for the Chiefs. But the latter has been debunked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/nfl\/kansas-city-chiefs\/article248670900.html\">the Kansas City Star <\/a>which used the head coaching hires of the Detroit Lions and the Eagles as evidence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;He\u2019s been critiqued for not being the Chiefs\u2019 primary play-caller, a duty that falls to head coach Andy Reid, but the latest two NFL hires would seem to debunk that being some sort of disqualifier. The Detroit Lions hired Saints tight end coach Dan Campbell, who did not have those responsibilities, and Sirianni did not call the plays in his duties as the Indianapolis Colts\u2019 offensive coordinator.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><div id=\"first-719531477\" class=\"first-content first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream2 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While teams appear to be targeting younger head coaches in the mold of Sean McVay, experienced and talented <a href=\"https:\/\/firstandpen.com\/staging\/5861\/black-nfl-coaches-2021-hiring-no-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Black coaches continue to be overlooked<\/a>. These are men such as Jim Caldwell, Marvin Lewis and Anthony Lynn, former head coaches who have career winning records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bieniemy has the talent and experience for a head coaching position. Even better, he has a Super Bowl-winning head coach, his boss, supporting him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhoever gets him, I think, is a very lucky organization.
