Not Nebraska football history, but in the entire history of Nebraska sports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ketv.com\/article\/nebraska-football-mickey-joseph-interim-coach-scott-frost\/41155715#\">according to KETV Omaha<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Statement from Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics &#8211; Trev Alberts. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/weczB1ghoB\">pic.twitter.com\/weczB1ghoB<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Nebraska Huskers (@Huskers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Huskers\/status\/1569013971415351298?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 11, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 54-year-old coach joined the program this season as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. Now he will lead the team for at least the next nine games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team currently sits at 1-2 after losing another close game, this time to Georgia Southern of the Sunbelt Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After another horrible loss, Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts knew he had to make a change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;After the disappointing start to our season, I decided the best path forward for our program was to make a change in our head coaching position,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/huskers.com\/news\/2022\/9\/11\/statement-from-nebraska-director-of-athletics-trev-alberts.aspx\">said Alberts in a statement<\/a>. &#8220;Associate Head Coach Mickey Joseph will serve as our interim head coach for the remainder of the 2022 season.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a move that the school supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDifficult as this decision is, I fully support AD Alberts\u2019 path (forward), and I have complete confidence in Interim Coach Joseph. There\u2019s lots of football left to be played. Now is the time to rally around our players and give them our full support,\u201d said University of Nebraska President Ted Carter.<\/p><div id=\"first-1671285616\" class=\"first-content first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream2 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like Joseph, Frost was a former Cornhuskers quarterback. He was hired in 2018 after leading UCF to a perfect 13-0 record and a Peach Bowl win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, he never duplicated that success at Nebraska. He failed to have a single winning season in his five years with the team, posting a final record of 16-31 before his firing on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We need a different voice,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Huskers\/status\/1569042314093559808\">said Alberts at the press conference<\/a>. &#8220;We need to provide hope for these young men.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Football is a tough sport,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;You have to force yourself to do things you don&#8217;t want to do physically. So having somebody who can pull that out of you and motivate you to do that&#8230;.and in my observations of coach Joseph, I think he has some of those attributes and I&#8217;d like to see him function in that role.&#8221;<\/p><div id=\"first-4281640795\" class=\"first-content_2 first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream3 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413989195-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413989195-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So now the headset goes to Mickey Joseph, who has a lengthy coaching resume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a four-year playing career under Tom Osborne (1988 &#8211; 1991), Joseph moved into coaching at the high school and collegiate levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He coached at programs such as Wayne State College (Nebraska), Tulane, Nicholls State, Central Oklahoma and Louisiana Tech. Joseph also has extensive HBCU coaching experience from stints at Grambling State, Alcorn State, Langston University and Alabama State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to Nebraska, Joseph was at LSU, where he won a national championship in 2019.<\/p><div id=\"first-4257389697\" class=\"first-content_3 first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream4 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700414036595-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700414036595-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was instrumental in attracting and developing the talents of NFL star receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja&#8217;Marr Chase at Baton Rouge.
