But for Ja&#8217;Marr Chase, his family is not part of the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The star receiver for the Bengals signed a four-year, $30.8 million deal with Cincinnati last season. His first big purchase was a Black Maserati. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it wasn&#8217;t for himself though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was for his mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/video\/watch\/first-million-gq-sports-my-first-million-jamarr-chase-tied-to-book\">In an interview with GQ<\/a>, Chase, the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, described how his family came first, not him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So after signing his contract, and receiving a $19.8 million bonus, he took his first million and took care of the most important people in his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First up was his mother who drove an Audi with a busted air conditioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;My pops came to me about it. She been having an Audi and the Audi was real bad,&#8221; said Chase. &#8220;The air stopped working in it, so she&#8217;s not about to try to ride around in no hot car. Gotta get her a car ASAP. &#8220;<\/p><div id=\"first-4258572379\" class=\"first-content first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream2 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that car was a $65,000 black Maserati, which turned into an emotional moment for both of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;She was crying, like tears of joy,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That was good to see. She made me start crying.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next Chase paid off the roughly $100,000 remaining on his family&#8217;s home and followed that up by giving his siblings $15,000 a piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ja&#8217;Marr had to treat himself a little, and that meant jewelry, clothes, tattoos and of course, a car. A $300,000 Rolls-Royce Wraith.<\/p><div id=\"first-2583082895\" class=\"first-content_2 first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream3 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413989195-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413989195-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After some other expenses, Ja&#8217;Marr saved the rest, which meant that he saved roughly $400,000 of his first million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The rest of this, I saved,&#8221; said Chase. &#8220;Just put away, made sure I had it for a good day. Family, friends. You know, something that&#8217;s real important down the line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Saving your money is way better than spending it.
