Why not?&#8221; Donald said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RamsNFL\/status\/1533938601301463041?s=20&amp;t=dtscRoNCpOwDjQV7Cvlx8Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video the team posted<\/a>\u00a0after announcing the deal. &#8220;At SoFi Stadium, getting chills thinking about it. Let&#8217;s go to work.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donald&#8217;s deal is astounding and deserving.<\/p><div id=\"first-3309706692\" class=\"first-content first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream2 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413625220-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last few seasons, Donald and the Steelers&#8217; TJ Watt have been the two most disruptive, dominant defensive players in the league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Steelers rewarded the 26-year-old Watt, who won the DPOY last season (and should have won it the season prior as well), with a four-year, $112 million extension, of which $80 million was guaranteed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watt&#8217;s new annual salary of $28.003 million <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RapSheet\/status\/1436065257986957322?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1436065257986957322%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportingnews.com%2Fus%2Fnfl%2Fnews%2Ftj-watt-contract-steelers%2F1vmxa4gnm4fc0197al3fx0zlrc\">made him the league&#8217;s highest-paid defensive player<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fans can debate who&#8217;s better between Donald and Watt, but there&#8217;s no arguing that they are the two most dominant players in the league.<\/p><div id=\"first-55714573\" class=\"first-content_2 first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream3 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700413989195-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700413989195-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When offenses create plays and blocking schemes specifically for them, you can&#8217;t deny their presence on the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are reminiscent of dominators of the past like Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s part of the reason why both Watt&#8217;s and Donald&#8217;s contracts are so significant, for they are reminders of how one player can change an entire game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s why they both deserve to make NFL contract history, because Taylor and White did too.<\/p><div id=\"first-2576577317\" class=\"first-content_3 first-entity-placement\"><!-- \/22950135888\/FAP_Article_Leaderboard_Instream4 -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1700414036595-0' style='min-width: 300px; min-height: 90px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700414036595-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1990, Taylor signed a then-record three-year deal that paid him (get this) $1.6 million annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That put him above Reggie White&#8217;s annual $1.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taylor was 31 at the time. White was 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if you think offenses fear Watt and Donald, you should have seen the fear in the eyes of opposing QBs when they have to face Taylor and White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That fear and dominance win championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taylor, White and now Donald all got theirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watt will hopefully get his soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a league that is biased towards quarterbacks in regards to awards and compensation, and rightfully so, it&#8217;s refreshing to see Donald get his.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For it&#8217;s a reminder that there are others who are almost as, if not equally, important as the man under center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Aaron Donald is definitely one of those men.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday NFL fans were shocked when they learned of Aaron Donald&#8217;s massive new contract.
