There are two new sheriffs in town in New Orleans, and Bryson Graham and Swin Cash are their names.
Today, the day before the NBA Draft, the Pelicans are promoting Bryson Graham to General Manager and Swin Cash to Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations.
The two have been with the team for some time.
After playing at Texas A&M for three years and then serving as a graduate assistant for the team, Graham began his career with the Pelicans as a basketball operations intern in 2010. He then rose to become player development director in 2011, video coordinator/player development coach in 2012, scouting coordinator in 2014, director of college scouting in 2017, assistant GM in 2019 and he’s now the team’s GM.
“Over his 14 NBA seasons, Bryson has built a stellar reputation throughout the NBA,” said Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin. “First and foremost, he is recognized for the strength of his character. His work ethic, basketball acumen, leadership ability and eye for talent have contributed immeasurably to our growth as a franchise. I couldn’t be happier to see him assume the role of general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans.”
Graham replaces Trajan Langdon, who went to Detroit to become the Pistons’ president of basketball operations.
Swin Cash has also been with the organization for many years.
She joined the Pelicans in 2019 as the VP of basketball operations and team development. Prior to that, she worked as the New York Liberty’s director of franchise development from 2017 – 2019 and was also an analyst on NBA TV.
Swin was a star at UConn, winning two national titles and was named the 2002 Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. She was a 3x All-Big East selection and was named to the All-American team. She was drafted with the second overall pick by the Detroit Shock in the 2002 WNBA Draft. During her 15-year WNBA career, she won three championships and two Olympic gold medals and was a 4x All-Star.
In 2022, she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Now, as the SVP of Basketball Operations, Cash is one of the highest-ranking women in an NBA front office.
