Naomi Osaka To Launch Media Production Company “Hana Kuma”

Naomi Osaka continues building her business success off the court.

This week she announced that she’s launching her own media production company, Hana Kuma, with her agent, Stuart Duguid, and will be partnering with The SpringHill Company owned by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.

The company, whose name means “flower bear” in Japanese, aims to produce scripted and unscripted television series, documentaries, anime and branded content.

According to Front Office Sports, Hana Kuma’s first credit will be on a New York Times op-doc project on Patsy Mink, the first woman of color to be elected to Congress.

In 1964, Mink won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, becoming the first woman of color, the first Asian-American woman and the first woman from Hawaii to be elected to Congress.

This is another accomplishment on Osaka’s growing resume.

In 2021, she was the highest-paid female athlete, raking in $57.3 million.

In May, she announced she was launching her own sports agency, EVOLVE, with Duguid.

Those are in addition to her other business ventures including skincare brand Kinlò, her investment in the North Carolina Courage of the NWSL, her equity stake in Bodyarmour, and her sponsorships by companies such as Nike, Beats Electronics, Nissin Foods and Tag Heuer. on top of her

Naomi Osaka continues sprinting down her path of business success.

And if that tennis thing doesn’t work out, she’s more than good to go in the boardroom.
