Everyone is talking about LeBron James’ no-look 3-pointer from last night’s game against the Houston Rockets. But this morning we’re finding out a little more about how it came about.

For those who haven’t seen it, here’s what you missed:

Because it was so nice, you need to see it twice, so here’s another view:

Last night everyone marveled and laughed at LeBron’s shot and reaction, the clip going viral in mere seconds. But now we’ve learned that the reason why LeBron took the shot and turned to the Lakers’ bench was because teammate Dennis Schroder threw out an instantaneous challenge to James, a bet that LeBron took.

“I told him to bet a Benjamin on it, so he shot it,” confessed Schroder after L.A.’s 117-100 victory. “Shot it and turned around and said, ‘Bet.’ Then, it went in. It’s just legendary.”

The bet was for $100, which probably what James makes in the time it takes to simply turn around.

“I took the bet while I was still shooting the ball,” said James. “A bet isn’t official until you look a man in the eye, so I had to look him into the eye, and I was able to win that.”

After staring at Schroder, the shot dropped, LeBron got some dap and ran down the court as his excited teammates tried to mob him.

“Everybody had fun,” said Schroder. “Everybody was talking about it, even during timeouts. It was just a hell of a play.”

James’ 26 points helped propel the Lakers to the league-leading record of 9-3. But it was his no-look 3 that has everyone talking.

And now he’s $100 richer.
