NBA Champion Giannis Antetokounmpo captured the hearts of Milwaukee sports fans when they selected him with the 15th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Bringing a title to the city forever solidified his legend in there.

Today Giannis further strengthened his footprint in the city.

On Friday, the Milwaukee Brewers announced that the Bucks’ star bought a piece of the team.

Giannis is the first new individual investor to team ownership since the team was bought by chairman/principal owner Mark Attanasio in 2005.

“Giannis will bring a huge amount to our organization, starting in the community,” said Attanasio on Friday. “He knows how to win just as a lot of our players know how to win on the field. He can help with leadership and how we think about things.”

It’s a move by Giannis that further demonstrates his love for the city which embraced him from day one.

“The city of Milwaukee means so much to me,” said Antetokounmpo in a statement. “I am honored to be joining the Brewers ownership group to further my commitment and dedication to this great community. I take great pride in my city and I’m excited about what we can build together.”

Turns out the deal was finalized earlier in the year, but the teams didn’t want it to be a distraction during the Bucks’ run to the Finals.

Giannis led the team to a 4-2 series win over the Phoenix Suns. He averaged 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds and 5 assists and was named Finals MVP.

“The deal was finalized in early May, but we waited to announce because of the playoff run,” said Antetokounmpo at the news conference Friday. “Milwaukee has made me who I am today. It’s basically my home. I became a father here, leader here, champion here. Milwaukee invested a lot in me, and I want to invest myself in Milwaukee.”

Giannis just won again.
