Former NFL players Clinton Portis, Tamarick Vanover and Robert McCune are facing major problems, including jail time.

Last week a jury failed to reach a decision in Clinton Portis’ criminal trial. Today it was revealed that the former running back pled guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud and faces 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000. He also has to pay back $99,264 to the Gene Upshaw NFL Players Health Reimbursement Account.

Also pleading guilty are former receiver Tamarick Vanover and former linebacker Robert McCune.

In his plea, Portis admitted he took part in a plan to defraud through “false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises.”

In other words, Portis acknowledges the lied about claims for benefits he made over equipment that he knew “were not medically necessary.”

The $99,264 is the amount he received as a reimbursement from the plan.

Last year, McCune was the only individual named in all 19 counts of a wire and health care fraud indictment that consists of players such as Portis, Vanover, and six other players.
