Diddy always told people that he wouldn’t stop and later today he’ll prove that again.

On June 26th, 2022 at the BET Award, an emotional Diddy took to the stage to accept the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. During his acceptance speech, Diddy, a one-time HBCU student, made two pledges that ignited the crowd.

First, he pledged $1 million to Howard, which he attended.

Then he dropped a sports remix on everyone.

“I want to drop another million dollars on Deion Sanders and Jackson State University because we should play for us,” exclaimed Diddy.

At the time, Jackson St. head coach Deion Sanders was elevating the program and HBCU football to new levels by recruiting top-tier talent and bringing attention to programs often ignored by the mainstream.

While Coach Prime is now in Boulder with the Colorado Buffaloes, the Jackson St. Tigers are still in Mississippi waiting for the check Diddy promised.

Well, wait no more Tigers, for today you shall receive it.

The media mogul will be in attendance at Saturday’s MEAC/SWAC Challenge featuring Jackson State and South Carolina State. There, he will present the $1 million check he promised to new head coach T.C. Taylor and Jackson State University’s football program.

But Diddy had already started to make good on his pledge back in June according to interim Jackson St. President Dr. Elaine Hayes Anthony.

“P Diddy, as our students called him and as we probably know him as Sean Combs, has released one million dollars to Jackson State for athletics and we’re very, very pleased about that,” said Anthony in June. “We will be receiving $332,000 by June 23rd as a first installment, and then we’ll get another in 2024 and another in 2025.”

So props to Diddy for keeping his word.
