Over the last few days, Enes Kanter and Royce White have exposed themselves as both fools and tools in their thirst for attention.
On Friday, Kanter posted a video declaring his eligibility for the 2027 WNBA Draft.
“My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA’s eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion,” wrote Kanter. “Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027.”
Then White, who continues his freefall down the MAGA blackhole of self-destruction, followed suit. He even donned a wig and said he identifies as a Black woman to further his ridiculous grift of entering the WNBA Draft.
“It came y’all…My 1st wig! Tomorrow I test it on the court,” posted White on X. “This is my feminine era glow up, did I slay? If y’all don’t “yassss queen” you’re transphobic. I really don’t understand all the hatred, I just want to play some hoops with my fellow ladies.”
We all know why they’re doing this, but the depth of their mockery and sheer stupidity is as absurd and it is sad.
Yet their antics must not simply be overlooked for they are part of a more diabolical plan with a much more destructive goal- to control and ultimately destroy women’s sports and women’s rights.
Over the last few years, women’s sports have exploded across the country, a rapid growth that has attracted big business and triggered the emotions of MAGA and those of their ignorant ilk.
So instead of being able to simply appreciate and celebrate women’s sports, we are witnessing and repelling escalating attacks on women complete with a snowball effect triggered through cries of race and the transgender community.
The latter has become a recent rallying point in society for both supporters and oppressors.
Now that community and the debate surrounding it, have come to sports, and thanks to ignorants like Kanter and White, antagonists have been supplied with a level of stupidity only the truly foolish could provide and support.
But whether or not you support the transgender community isn’t the real issue.
The real issue is how these antics are part of a coordinated attack on both women’s sports and women’s rights in general.
It started with the long-pursued effort to end “Roe vs Wade” and continued with battles over names on birth certificates.
Now the hateful movement has focused its efforts on Title IX.
Passed on June 23rd, 1972, Title IX is a landmark law that “prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.”
One of the specific types of discrimination listed under the law is “the failure to provide equal athletic opportunity”, a provision meant to protect and support girl’s and women’s sports
But conservatives, MAGA and the Tr**p administration have gone above and beyond to find ways to undermine the law and its protections for those it was designed to safeguard.
In 2024, this group successfully led the effort to the repeal the expanded protections instituted by the Biden administration. That effort has enabled the attack on single-sex institutions like Smith College, protections for the LGBTQ+ community and on the WNBA.
Now, instead of watching great basketball, we are watching fouls on white players being scrutinized, politicized and weaponized, particularly by white men in leadership positions like Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who threatened to charge players with assault after DiJonai Carrington’s flagrant foul against Sophie Cunningham.
“The WNBA knows better than to play games down here in Florida, because I’ll be charging people with assault,” posted Uthmeir on X.
Instead of being able to appreciate the league-leading Minnesota Lynx having five players scoring in double digits, we are subjected to ridiculous and hateful commentary spewed by conservative mouthpieces Clay Travis and Matt Walsh, the former dying to prove that a boy’s high school basketball team can beat a WNBA team and the latter slamming the “racial violence” in the WNBA.
And instead of watching the greatness of A’Ja Wilson and the surprising success of rookie Olivia Miles, we are bombarded by those pushing the ridiculous notion that Caitlin Clark is the face of the league and the only reason why people watch the WNBA.
Obviously, the hypocritical and wildly ignorant “Keep politics out of sports” crowd has conveniently forgotten their own directive.
At the end of the day, if you don’t want to watch women’s sports, then don’t. No one is forcing you to.
But to degrade and embarrass yourself by begging for boys to play against women and wearing wigs to mock and teasingly demonstrate your non-existent transgender side is just sad.
So watch these groups carefully for their intents are clear.
But watch and support women’s sports even more so, for they’re way better than the foolishness voiced by ignorant men.
