Bruce Pearl Shows Again Why Black Players Must Know Who They Play For

Auburn’s Bruce Pearl keeps telling everyone exactly who he is and why Black players should not play for him.

In a video shared by Outkick, Pearl joined well-known ignorant Dan Dakich and expressed his views on Barack Obama.

“I thought in so many ways, rather than uniting us as a country, even by race, he divided us,” said Pearl. “Everything was Black and white. Everything was the obstacles that were against, you know, my players for being successful. I’m trying to teach my guys, look, I don’t want you working at Subway..I want you owning five of them, and that’s possible.

“I think in many ways Barack Obama told a different story.”

That is both ridiculous and foolish and a purposefully politically inflammatory statement about the former president.

Obama was the first Black president in American history. His presidency inspired millions and millions of people who look like Pearl’s players and showed them that the impossible could be achieved.

That alone means that Obama did more for “his players” and their families than Pearl could ever do.

But the other thing Obama did do was expose the racism that has always existed in this country simply due to his Blackness, complemented by his intelligence and success. Because of it, racism flourished outwardly to the point where Trump was able to exploit it in his rise to power.

And THAT’S what has divided this country.

Obama enabled tens of millions to have healthcare, including those who hated him because he was Black.

That’s more unity than owning a Subway franchise could ever achieve.

Now, to be fair, Pearl did acknowledge that “we’ve got a lot to work on,” and that racism does exist. He also said he loved listening to Obama because he’s “such a great orator” and that he disagreed with “so many of his policies,” that latter of which isn’t an issue.

Pearl could have listed the policies he disagreed with and why he disagreed with them. That’s fair and I’m sure that he’d have good points that even Black people would acknowledge.

But to say just blurt out that Obama divided the country is just stupid, especially in light of what’s happening right now.

Texas is trying to rig next year’s midterms. Some in Louisiana are trying to eliminate a Black voting district. DEI efforts, which helped bring to success to many institutions, are being eliminated across the country simply because they’re positioned as “Black” efforts to enrage a base fueled by ignorance and hate.

Tr**p has cut spending on programs, particularly educational programs, that have helped millions of all skin tones. This includes Pell Grants, something which Obama had increased funding for to help “millions of low- and moderate-income students afford college every year.”

Yet Obama divided the country?

The man who gave everyone, regardless of location, level of education, race or religion, access to healthcare and education is the person who divided the country?

Obama isn’t the person who proposed giving tariff rebate checks to everyone except “Biden voters,”; that’s Missouri Senator Josh Hawley.

So why didn’t Pearl talk about what’s happening currently, much of which will impact his players and their families now and over the next few years?

And why didn’t Dakich remind him about what’s happening in the country now?

Obviously I’m being sarcastic for the answer is simple- Obama is Black and is an easy target because of it.

Why do you think Pam Bondi has opened a foolish grand jury probe into the Obama administration’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Pearl’s tactics are obvious and they should now be clear to his current and future players.

He pursued the same path last year by attacking Kamala Harris, calling her a “socialist woke progressive” in a repost of a tweet by Senator Tom Cotton where he claimed that Harris wanted to kick employees off of their employer’s health coverage and get everyone on a government plan, “even illegal aliens,” wrote Cotton.

That last part was the scare tactic Cotton and those like him love employing.

Of course, that wasn’t what Harris wanted. She was expressing her belief in expanded healthcare and Medicare for all, not the elimination of healthcare for all.

Now, almost a year after those tweets by Pearl and Cotton, more than 11 million people are at risk of losing their health coverage over the next few years thanks Tr**p’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Cotton and his fellow republican legislators helped pass.

Obama didn’t do that, Bruce.

Pearl is reverting to racial politics again, but infusing it with “niceties” so that he can recruit many of the very players who are, and will be, impacted by the policies of the current administration.

Pearl’s gameplan has been effective, as he’s built a successful program at Auburn.

But it’s time for Black athletes to wake up, refuse to be blinded by NIL and take a stand.

As we wrote previously:

Black athletes, it’s time for you to take your own political stand and refuse to play for coaches of Pearl’s ilk.

Auburn isn’t the only program in the nation. Your talents can be utilized at another school. Plus, in his 10 years at Auburn, the Tigers have only been to the Final Four once, so it’s not like you’re missing out on a championship program.

So if you’re thinking about heading to Auburn, check out Pearl’s X feed and then decide whether you can honestly stomach playing for someone who reposts Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk and other groups and individuals that want nothing to do with you outside of your vote.
