WNBA superstar A‘ja Wilson has been amazing this season and recently became the third-fastest player to reach 4,000 career points.

In her seventh year in the league, A’ja, 27, has elevated her game this season and is averaging a career-high in points (28.3), rebounds (11.8), blocks (2.7) and steals (1.9).

Her 2024 scoring average, almost six more points than her career average, leads the league. Even more impressively, this is her first year averaging double digits in rebounds per game.

Wilson’s recent performances have attracted even more attention. 3x National Champion Dawn Staley, who coached Wilson at South Carolina where they won a championship together, did not mince words about her former star.

The praise for Wilson grows as she continues to dominate the competition and break records, including scoring at least 20 points in 14 straight games.

Many say A’ja is on a revenge tour after finishing third in the MVP voting in 2023. Her supporters believe that the MVP snub fueled her desire to prove doubters wrong, which resulted in A’ja leading the team to its second straight WNBA title and her being named Finals MVP.

Wilson’s accomplishments and accolades have cemented per place in WNBA and basketball history. She’s a 2x Defensive Player of the Year, 2x WNBA champion, 1x Finals MVP, 5x All-Star, 2017 NCAA Champion and Most Outstanding Player, and an Olympic gold medalist.

It will be interesting to see if Wilson can continue this type of dominance throughout the season. And with her returning to Team USA for the Paris Olympics this summer, she will have the opportunity to once again prove her dominance on a global level.

But she and the team have work to do first as the Aces are currently 5-5 and riding a 3-game losing streak.

If A’ja can help turn the season around, lead the team to a WNBA Finals three-peat and help Team USA win gold this summer, the doubters will forever be silenced for her Hall of Fame career is completely cemented.
